Boring bits in PCD, tungsten carbide and solid tungsten carbide
Wirutex offers a wide range of boring bits for boring machines and CNC machining centres with cutting edges made of: polycrystalline diamond (PCD), tungsten carbide (HW) and solid tungsten carbide (HWM).
What are the features and functions of Wirutex boring bits?
The boring bits are used on boring machines and CNC machining centres to make:
- Blind holes
- Through holes
- Countersinks
Boring bits for machining panels in furniture industry applications can be made from different materials, each of which has its own specific characteristics:
- Polycrystalline diamond (PCD)
- Tungsten carbide
- Solid tungsten carbide
Polycrystalline diamond (PCD) boring bits for boring machines
The PCD boring bits for boring machines consist of a body in tungsten carbide or solid tungsten carbide onto which small polycrystalline diamond tips are braze-welded. For boring bits for hinges, the adjustable centring point can be in HW or DP.
Their long cutting life makes them particularly suitable for repeated operations on chipboard, MDF, coated MDF and melamine, guaranteeing high quality results throughout the whole production cycle.
Boring bits for boring machines made from tungsten carbide (HM) or solid tungsten carbide (HWM)
In boring bits made from tungsten carbide or solid tungsten carbide, the cutting edge and centring point (if present) are made of the same material as the bit body.
In certain types of boring bit for blind holes, the head may be in HWM whereas the body and cutting edge are in HW.
The innovative Wirutex technology, W-Plus, is used on boring bits in tungsten carbide to guarantee greater durability, a better quality finish and an extremely high number of boring operations.
